Not to hate on Jagr, but I just don't see how he helps this team. Another player to take up the right side half wall on the PP. NJD are a much slower team, I feel Jagr will be lost and out of the play a lot with Malkin. |

Isn't Malkin a player that wants the puck? If Jagr is going to keep possession then Malkin isn't going to be too happy - or should I be in bed? |

#JagrWatch2015 Starting To Heat Up - Ryan_Wilson
Just so you know, Jagr has been playing primarily with Gomez, since Gomez joined the Devils.
Out of curiosity, can you put up Gomez' chart for this year as well, that should be interesting. |

If Spaling can play 3c.. I would consider Sutter and our second (or prospect) for Jagr and their first. It would be interesting to see how Jags and Geno would mesh.. Either it would be a great pair, or a total disaster and I could see it either way. |

They won't be parting with their first in this years draft. I must admit though, it's not out of the question that Sutter leaves for a rental......because that's how bad he's playing. |

The chart's sample size is 2012-13 to the present.

Yeah I know, but a 26 year old center and a blue chip D prospect (Dumoulin) should be able to fetch a 40+ year old rental and a first.. Only thing is with how deep this draft is we may need to add on a mid round pick |

Im on the fence if he can be successful here playing with geno or sid...my mind isnt certain but my heart says to go for it...
I think we are all weary of bad trades, we remember all the trades that didnt go our way. murray, iginla, morrow etc...jr has done well though aquiring perron and hornquist, not sold on the lappy goc trade yet but time will tell
NJ games can be so boring... |

I have already made my case for trades, but I think this one would be top notch. The problem is finding the room. I'm not sure Sutter would fetch Jagr + but I would offer that.
I still think you have to get Winnik. |

I think most teams have contacted the Devils about Jagr, but that doesn't mean there have been serious talks. Hell, I'm sure the Flyers have called about him, but aren't willing to deal any quality assets for him. |

High end D prospect and a pick gets Jagr in the Burgh again, he is the BEST option for this team from every aspect of the game. Mostly on the PP |

I would be happy to see Sutter, BB, Martin, Scuds all leave for whatever pieces that can make this team tougher to play against. BB should have stuck with roller hockey. |

Tanger at point, Geno in the semi point, Jagr got half wall, Crosby and Hornqvist got low. Second unit comes out and its got Bennett, Perron, Kunitz, Downie, and Martin.
That is a great power play |

The problem here, as pointed out by Mike Colligan in his article, is that the Penguins don't have the cap space to get him without giving someone up. That would most likely have to be Kunitz, whose name is also swirling around in trade rumors.
If I had my choice of sending Kunitz to NJ for Jagr, or Kunitz to Carolina for Jiri Tlusty, I'd take the latter. Both are UFAs, but I think the Penguins would have a better chance of signing Tlusty over Jagr.
Oh, and there's also the little fact that Jagr has 1 goal in his past 33 playoff games. 17 assists to go along with that goal, but you don't acquire Jagr to be a setup man. He hasn't been a big playoff factor since returning from the KHL. |

Which D prospect and what pick are you envisioning?
And where do you get the cap space? |

Pens probably have to move Kunitz in a separate deal to make space for Jagr
Perron-Crosby-Hornqvist
Comeau-Malkin-Jagr
Bennett-Sutter-Downie
Spaling-Lapierre-Adams/Arcobello

NJ is not a playoff team. They'll want the best package of picks and prospects they can get if they're going to move Jagr, and some teams will likely give them a package better than Brandon Sutter, who fits neither of those categories. |

How amazing would it be if Sutter came out in a Devils jersey tonight and Jags had on the black and gold, and no one reported it until it was already evident on the ice.
(if you cant tell im a wrestling fan) It would be the best angle ever!!!

Charts and analytics aside, I think Jags would be a great fit for the Pens for the stretch run to the playoffs. He's still an amazing player for his age, and could maybe even bring the BGCE (Billy Guerin Calming Effect) to our superstar, as he still seems to get so rattled in the playoffs.
Purely speculative... and emotional bias... on my part, but even with all the teams he's hopped around to over the past few years, he's still a Penguin at heart. |
